THE 2008 NATIONAL OPEN DAY - 17th AUGUST

A rather smaller gathering of people, but some interesting locos - this "Prince" is based on a Mamod.

It looked well with a rake of stock

Keith Vernon, with a fine sense of occasion, brought the same train that he did 20 years ago, for the line's first Open Day..................

....... with stock based on Mamod wagons..........

............... and a VERY rare Merlin Hudson Huddy (with rubber belt drive) to haul it!
(Keith Vernon)

The Prince had a run - Oh!, those meths fumes!!

The garden was looking well............

......... and people appreciated the extra room to propare locos.

Kevin Steele ran his Quarry Hunslet with a pair of opens...........

........... and David Halfpenny ran his re-batteried Keef loco, which now crawls twice as fast as it did!
He does things differently - most people lay on their fronts to take pictures...............

For some very odd reason................
(David Halfpenny)

This train attracted the attention of our dog, Rocky, who's never ever bothered with the railway before.

He insisted on following the train, very carefully........

We don't know why!

In the evening, the village of Over Haddon was en fete to celebrate the anniversary and was all lit up!
