Beer Can Wagon

At Lincoln Garden Railway Show in February 2010, I was much taken with the new IP Engineering "Timothy the Timber Truck" which should REALLY be called "Barney the Beer Can Wagon" as that's what it's designed to carry!

 

What you get is a sheet of lasered plywood, a set of wheels, four wheel bearings, a couple of coupling hooks and a length of chain. This picture was taken at 1918............

............ by 2023 it looked like this! As always, I bemoan the fact that Ivan doesn't laser plank detail into the bed of his wagons, so 16 coffee stirring sticks cut in half later, it had a planked bed. The first attempt at staining using Indian ink wasn't as good as I hoped.......

 

.............. so it got stained with Dark Jacobean oak wood stain....

 

.............. aand once I'd re-cut the notches for the side stakes and installed these, it looked suitably well-worn.
