CHARLES FIRTH'S RAILWAY 2011

I was once again fortunate to be invited to a private Open Day at Charles Firth's line in Congleton.

 

The trees, as always, were looking well..................

................. as was Charles' new crane...............

 

............ which was moving a Lister loco.

This "Nuclear Flask" was the result of having some concrete left over, plus a plastic container for something or other...........

As always, the sidings were FULL of visiting locos!

Serious Concentration.............

 

............. as two Garratts, an Accucraft NGG16 and Dave Midgeley's "Africaans".............

 

............. prepare to do a double head!

Through the cutting................

Quite the most pointless (but delightful) vehicle in attendence was this NG TPO by Ian Whitson ...............

 

............... with radio controlled arm and net...............

......... in the middle of the coach.

 

As always, a good crowd............

This Caradoc has had its bodywork severely modified - it now looks somewhat "Russell-esque" .

A nice Tal-y-lyn train.

 

...... and the Prize for "The Most Modified Engine" goes to this Fairlie - converted from plain black, 45mm gauge and track powered to lined maroon, 32mm gauge and battery powered!

 

Another battery electric train was the MDLR's Rapier and stock................

 

........ which got in the way of the steamers most effectively!

 

Don't know what he was prospecting for in deepest, darkest, Congleton...................

 

Dave Midgley's Accucraft Baldwin has had new frames cut and is now a 2-6-2.

 

It hauled the resident mineral train.

 

Mike Skyner's Ruston (with charging socket) awaits its turn of duty.

 

"A towel has now been provided for your convenience!"

And finally.......... the celebratory cake!
