LOCO 20 "RINCEWIND"

Loco 20 is a Baldrig XT, built on a (allegedly) "scrap" Edrig chassis.

This is what I started with................

Most of the pipework was there (tho' I hadn't quite worked out how the main steam line runs........) The main things I needed were a footplate, couplings, reversing lever, chimney to go on the existing smokebox and a steam dome to get me a running power unit. I am adding some other items - lamp brackets, a water fill system, a PROPER regulator handle, a PROPER drain cock for the lubricator and a chuff pipe.

Here's the first design for the name and number plates..................
They will, of course, have red backgrounds.

On 12th October, THIS box arrived..................

..................with THIS box inside it...............

..................which, when unpacked, looked like THIS! I'm very impressed!.

The same evening, the Berry Hill Works delivered a Working Steam Plant...........

..................with all the missing bits replaced.........

The cab had only been plonked on the footplate in this shot - it's designed to be "clamped" between the buffer beam and the frames.

As nothing then happened for two and a half years, I asked Jon Mead if he'd like to use the body kit for his soldering demonstration at the 2014 Peterborough Show.
"I don't suppose you'd like to finish it.............." so he did! (picture Jon Mead)

Once it was mounted on the running units, a most handsome loco emerged...................... (picture Jon Mead)

.................. though there seems to be an issiue with the regulator clashing with the reversing lever - a slight shortening of the shaft might be in order! (picture Jon Mead)

It has been rolling road tested...................(picture Jon Mead)

................ and now awaits coats of black paint. Note the Locoworks oil boxes at the front and under the tank.(picture Jon Mead)

As there was nowhere to put the carrying brackets for the fire irons, a pair of hooks on the cab back will have to suffice. (picture Jon Mead)

I was delighted to receive the completed loco, painted, lined and boxed, at the Exeter Show in October 2014

She looks a trifle odd with my MDLR stock - rather like a Welsh Highland loco hauling Festiniog stock! (and I MUST learn to put the cab roof down properly!)
