THE 2008 OPEN DAY - 18th MAY

It was nice for other people to see the "new garden" created by the removal of the trees............. (Rosie Palmer)

(Rosie Palmer)

........ and the view across the canal you now get from the bottom of the garden! (Rosie Palmer)

John & Rosie Palmer were our first arrivals...................(Rosie Palmer)

John tried his "Argyle", but the MDLR wasn't designed for his couplings.............(Rosie Palmer)

........................ so he gave up after a short run, and ran something else, instead!

Keith Vernon (with the beard) hasn't been to the line for a few years, so it was nice to see him here...........

........... with his ex-MDLR railbus, now radio controlled!

John's second train was much more amenable to the MDLR! (Rosie Palmer)

By now, there were plenty of people willing to give all the help, advice and encouragement that anybody could possibly need............(Rosie Palmer)

Haddon loop was getting a little congested by now - good job everybody decided to run the same way round, otherwise passing would have been "interesting"!(Rosie Palmer)

The IP Janet which ran so well last year put in appearance again......... (Rosie Palmer)

.........hauling a much longer train!

Adrian Palmer brought his Accuraft Excelsior.............

............... with a nice rake of freight stock.

Ian Shields was taking video (for next year's Members' DVD?).........

.......... from the lineside as well as from his camera wagon. WHY did he have to pick the one part of the line which is well below ground level??

Roger Coleman's Visiting Diesel performed as well as ever...........

............ and he managed to stuff his train into the new siding at Haddon when he'd done! Note that Mahatma Coat's (well, he used to be a cloakroom attendant) rickshaw rank now has two vehicles!

One of the stars of the show was Kevin Steele's Alice Class Quarry Hunslet.......

........... which caught the eye of another photographer, too!

"Ah, those meths fumes.........."

One of the final runners was this Swiss shunter inspired railcar.................

No - I'm NOT praying the track holds together!! (Rosie Palmer)

Matt watches the Hunslet through Haddon. (Rosie Palmer)

The youngsters brought their own Big Big Train............ (Rosie Palmer)

.......... with a double headed train!

A wagon off the line........ (Rosie Palmer)

"I reckon this'll make a good picture" (Rosie Palmer)

"Now, where was that 5p piece??" (Rosie Palmer)

It's a swine, oiling the other side of the loco!

If the men didn't offer advice..............

............... the ladies were happy to!

John Watson steams his VoR 2-6-2...........

.............. whilst everybody else is intent on looking at something else entirely!
