FELLING THE WILLOW TREE

This willow tree had been overshadowing this end of the railway (and dropping twigs on it) for years......

The first job was to lift the track and stack it out of the way...................

................... following which all the "twiggy" and leafy bits went...............

................... revealing the basic structure of the tree.

What's the bell code for "Tree on the Line"?

Getting down to the three main trunks............

....... and then to one.

Nearly there..........

Quote from the Tree Surgeon - "I HATE the final cut!"

The stump - treated with Ye Olde Creosote

Clearing up the mess: the flat stone is the platform for Haddon station, and came from the side of the Bala Lake Railway in Wales.

.......... and there it was - gorn!
